While YG Entertainment initially refused to give any statements related to Burning Sun, it seems that the scandal has caught up to them somehow as one of their artists, SeungRi of BIGBANG, was connected to the club as the publicity director and investor. In addition, South Korean fans calling for a boycott of the agency seems to be sending a message that requires attention from the agency as well.
YG Entertainment CEO Yang HyunSuk stated:
“Because this is about the personal business of one of our artists, it is unrelated to our agency, which is the reason why we needed to confirm the facts before releasing any statement.”
He added
“SeungRi has also been thoroughly investigated by prosecutors because of the countless numbers of accusations at the moment. His urine and hair tests came out as negative for traces of drugs.:
Yang HyunSuk also emphasized that the reason why SeungRi quit as the publicity director of the club was because he was preparing to enlist in the military, and the law forbids any soldier to engage in businesses unrelated to military affairs for profit, meaning SeungRi was resigning from executive positions from all of his businesses.”
