While veteran ONCEs probably are already aware, newer fans or non-fans probably may not have been aware about this particular thing about TWICE‘s Taiwanese member Tzuyu.
Tzuyu actually has a Korean name.
It is actually common for foreign K-Pop idols to either have an official Korean name made for them or a nickname in Korean, but usually reserved for people who know them personally.
Back in 2016, Tzuyu appeared on an episode of ‘Happy Together’ and surprised everyone by telling them that not many people call her “Tzuyu” in the agency.
Everyone was then, naturally curious what her Korean name was.
Tzuyu explained that everyone called her “JooHee”.
Besides the fact that it’s a pretty name that suits her well, the pronunciation of “JooHee” and her real name were very similar, making it the perfect Korean name for her.
