Singer and producer J.Y. Park recently appeared on the web variety show “Salon Drip 2,” expressing his deep affection for the group DAY6 and the globalization of K-pop. During the program, he mentioned DAY6, saying, “I started the group because I love bands so much. Wow, but after they returned from the military, what’s going on?” expressing his surprise at DAY6’s recent rapid growth.
When Jang DoYeon mentioned, “Young K said, ‘Producer J.Y. Park brags about us a lot,'” J.Y. Park praised DAY6’s outstanding songwriting and composing skills, proudly calling them “JYP’s pride.”
He cited the globalization of K-pop as the happiest moment in his career as an executive. J.Y. Park recalled, “I thought K-pop could succeed in the U.S. and started in the early to mid-2000s. We lost a tremendous amount of money back then. Of course, the success rate was about 10%, but when it succeeded, wouldn’t it be an enormous achievement for JYP and our country?” reflecting on the challenges and achievements of that time.
In particular, he added about Stray Kids, who ranked second in U.S. album sales behind Taylor Swift as of 2023, “Of course, the kids are having a tough time, but isn’t their music being consumed worldwide? I’m so proud.” J.Y. Park’s remarks convey his heartfelt support for DAY6 and Stray Kids, further raising expectations for their future endeavors.
