In an interview conducted at a cafe in Jongno District, Seoul, Director Heo Myeong-haeng shared the story of how he came to direct “The Outlaws 4.” He received the proposal from Ma DongSeok during the shooting of the Netflix original series “Wilderness.” “After ‘The Outlaws 3,’ we were preparing for ‘The Outlaws 4.’ Director Lee Sang-yong couldn’t participate, so they wanted me to take over,” Heo recalled. He was surprised but speculated that the offer came because Ma DongSeok recognized his capabilities on the set of “Wilderness.”
Director Heo Myeong-haeng also mentioned that he feels no pressure from the success of previous works. “Pressure comes from greed. I’ve already done my best and am waiting for the results, so there’s no need to feel burdened,” he confidently stated.
“The Outlaws 4” follows the monstrous detective Ma SeokDo, played by Ma DongSeok, as he teams up with a special forces villain Baek ChangKi (Kim Mu-yeol), IT genius CEO Jang DongCheol (Lee DongHwi), and Jang YiSoo (Park JiHwan) along with the violent crimes unit and cyber team to take down a massive online illegal gambling organization.
