The core value of KBCE is to unify Korean and British culture through education and celebration. This year’s “Harvest Fest” will be made in association with Kingston Beats and Kingston Chinese Association (KCA). The organization is also collaborating with Kingston’s ESEA (East & Southeast Asian) communities, as harvest celebrated all over the world, despite it being called differently in each country: Chuseok (Korea), Tsukimi (Japan), Tแบฟt Trung Thu (Vietnam) or Mid-Autumn/ Full Moon Festival (China).

The aim of the Harvest Fest is to celebrate the bringing together of different cultures and educating people about traditions that may be foreign to them. This is reflected in the diverse elements incorporated in the program like food, traditional dances, storytelling, music (including a K-Pop competition), traditional clothing, fashion show, martial arts demonstration, and culture and language. Souvenir stalls will be set up where participants will be able to buy handmade products from Hong Kong, and Chinese, Hong Kongese, and Korean street food.

Another aim of this year’s Harvest Fest is to welcome people from Hong Kong to Britain, especially to the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.

We wanted to invite and welcome everyone to our community with open arms. The way to get past cultural barriers is to get together, be open minded, immerse yourself in the culture, and celebrate one another. As part of the Kingston Korea Festival line up, we will also host the National UK K-Pop Competition and Kimjang Festival in November. We would love for
you to join us.
