In the 6th episode of Channel A’s popular variety show ‘Father is a Flower Middle-aged Man,’ 58-year-old father Shin SungWoo is depicted taking on the challenge of making buckwheat noodles with his two sons, TaeOh (8 years old) and HwanJun (3 years old). In this episode, Shin SungWoo showed his passion for making buckwheat noodles using the secret recipe he learned from a close chef friend.
Shin SungWoo reminisced about his first ramen experience in childhood, sharing precious memories as he said, “The whole family loves noodles.” Subsequently, he learned how to make buckwheat noodles from a Michelin Guide-listed noodle restaurant, determined to make noodles at home. However, the chef warned, “If you don’t use a kneading machine, your hands will become unusable.”
Despite the warning, Shin SungWoo was determined to make healthy food for his children and took on the challenge of making buckwheat noodles at home. Faced with the difficulty of the dough, he soon sighed, saying, “It looked easy when I watched, but it’s really not getting sticky. They said you’d curse, and I almost did.” Eventually, he switched from hand-kneading to foot-kneading and showed his passion once again. During this process, he struck poses reminiscent of the movie ‘Exhuma,’ making the other cast members burst into laughter.
After about three hours of effort, Shin SungWoo finally completed the ‘foot-kneaded noodles.’ His eldest son, TaeOh, helped his father, creating a warm scene. The ‘foot-kneaded noodle soup’ they shared was further highlighted by the adorable eating show of his younger son, HwanJun. HwanJun captured viewers’ attention with his impressive eating skills, earning the title of ‘eating show prodigy.’
