Sent Into Space recently teamed up with SEVENTEEN to add a cosmic touch to their latest music video, ‘God of Music’. This collaboration involved sending a microphone into space to capture a unique shot, with the project executed in partnership with the Korean production company SL8.
To make this celestial venture a reality, Sent Into Space’s engineering team sprang into action. They designed a customized spacecraft to transport a disco-ball-inspired microphone to the edge of space. The focus was on ensuring safety and security while also delivering an eye-catching shot for the music video. The mic was securely positioned using discreet carbon fiber rods.
With the design completed, the team worked diligently to assemble the spacecraft in just three days, ensuring it was ready for launch and capable of retrieving the footage. On October 10, 2023, the launch took place at one of Sent Into Space’s specialized launch sites in Derbyshire, UK. The microphone was attached to a high-altitude balloon filled with hydrogen gas, ascending to over 113,000 feet and remaining in the air for more than two hours.
The same day, the team successfully gathered the footage and edited it for use in the music video. The result can be seen from the 3:15-3:19 mark of the video, where the microphone appears to float gracefully in space, adding a cosmic twist to SEVENTEEN’s “‘God of Music’ music video.
