SEVENTEEN has once again proven their popularity in Japan by receiving a ‘Platinum’ certification for their gold disc from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, following their top spot on the Oricon chart.
On the 8th, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced that SEVENTEEN’s 12th mini-album ‘SPILL THE FEELS’ surpassed a cumulative shipment of 250,000 copies as of October, earning the platinum certification. The Recording Industry Association of Japan grants certifications based on monthly sales: Gold (over 100,000 copies), Platinum (over 250,000 copies), and Double Platinum (over 500,000 copies). With this certification, SEVENTEEN has had a total of 17 albums certified as gold discs, adding three certifications this year alone. Previously released best album ’17 IS RIGHT HERE’ received Double Platinum, and the special unit single ‘THIS MAN’ by Jeonghan and Wonwoo earned Gold certification.
‘SPILL THE FEELS’ claimed the top spot on the Oricon Daily Album Ranking immediately after its release and marked its 13th overall number one on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking and Weekly Combined Album Ranking, setting a record for the most number-one finishes by an overseas artist. It also topped the Billboard Japan ‘Hot Albums’ chart, further proving their immense popularity in Japan.
Based on these achievements, SEVENTEEN is set to continue meeting with local fans through a Japan dome tour. The tour will start at Vantelin Dome Nagoya and proceed to Tokyo Dome, Kyocera Dome Osaka, and Fukuoka PayPay Dome under the title ‘SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN.’
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN released the remix of their 12th mini-album’s title song โLOVE, MONEY, FAME (feat. DJ Khaled) (Kenia OS Remix)โ on various music platforms at 2 PM on the same day. The remix features Mexican singer-songwriter Kenia Os, who added a romantic atmosphere to the original track. Kenia Os expressed her joy at collaborating with SEVENTEEN, saying she was “happy to work with the best K-pop group.”
Anticipation is building for what new records SEVENTEEN will set in the Japanese market. There is growing interest in their additional achievements and future activities.
