SEVENTEEN is set to make history once again with their attendance at the “13th UNESCO Youth Forum,” happening on November 14-15 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.
In a groundbreaking move, SEVENTEEN will take center stage at the historic main hall of UNESCO Headquarters on November 14. The talented group will deliver a speech and a mesmerizing performance, representing the voices of youth during a special 60-minute session. They’ll be sharing their thoughts on how education and solidarity among young people can pave the way to a brighter future. This marks the first time a musical artist has been invited for a dedicated session at the “UNESCO Youth Forum.”
The “UNESCO Youth Forum” is a global platform that allows young people to engage in dialogue and share their ideas with the Member States of UNESCO as part of the UNESCO General Conference. It takes place every two years and brings together representatives from UNESCO’s 194 Member States, along with youth-focused institutions under the UN and various governmental and non-governmental organizations from around the world.
Before the forum, PLEDIS Entertainment, UNESCO, and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU) announced a significant collaboration. They signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signaling an expansion of their existing partnership. SEVENTEEN, through their previous collaboration with KNCU, initiated the ‘#GoingTogether’ campaign last year. This campaign advocated for education and youth initiatives, including fundraising with SEVENTEEN’s fans and donations from their world tour to support education in Malawi. It also aimed to raise awareness about improving education access for underprivileged children.
Educational aid from UNESCO helped the Republic of Korea recover from the aftermath of war 70 years ago. An artist from that same country, speaking to youth around the world at UNESCO about hope achieved through solidarity and education, will be both a moment of historical significance and a momentous milestone for SEVENTEEN as an icon in K-Pop.
