On May 16, a video titled “The Deep Story of Actor Oh Dal-su Buried for 6 Years” was released on the YouTube channel ‘PDC’, garnering significant attention.
Oh Dal-su shared an honest conversation with director Park Hye-ryeong over makgeolli after a meeting for his next project. Reflecting on his time spent in Geoje Island, he said, “I took it as a chance to rest after falling. Those were really good times and felt like a dream. It was a tough period, but I never considered it a time of hardship. It was a time to recharge.” He added, “When discussing projects, I told my manager, ‘Can we not sign the contract? It’s too hard,’ and soon after, it happened.”
In February 2018, Oh Dal-su was accused of sexually harassing a fellow actor as part of the ‘Me Too’ movement. This led to his departure from the tvN drama ‘My Mister’ and a halt in all activities. However, in August of the following year, the case was closed without formal investigation due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, and he was declared ‘not guilty.’
Oh Dal-su stated, “Even though words became seeds, it was an invaluable time for me. If I hadn’t taken a break then, I fear what might have happened. I had enjoyed all the perks as a supporting actor when I was at my peak. I was a lucky actor who could work on good projects with great directors and lead actors.”
He also candidly shared, “(If that hadn’t happened) I wonder if I would have become arrogant, damaged my health, or become tiresome to the audience. If it had happened, I would have given it my all.”
Oh Dal-su’s sincere confession resonated deeply with many fans, drawing significant attention to his future activities. There is growing anticipation for the new projects he will return with.
