Netflix has announced that it will release a new sports survival variety show titled ‘Super Rugby: Win or Die’ on December 10, accompanied by a teaser trailer. This program will capture the challenging journey of rugby players in their fierce battles for victory.
Jang SiWon PD, who gained attention for fresh concepts and authentic storytelling in programs such as ‘A Clean Sweep’, ‘Steel Troops’, and ‘City Fisherman’, will now focus on rugby, portraying the intense battles of Korean rugby players. The newly released teaser features seven teams gathered to find the best rugby team in Korea, along with the image of a golden trophy, capturing viewers’ attention.
Participating teams include the Korea Electric Power Corporation, considered the strongest Korean rugby team with former national team members; Hyundai Glovis, which achieved a two-year winning streak in the ‘Korea Super Rugby League’; the powerful POSCO E&C team; the surprising OK Man Rugby Team; the Korean Armed Forces Athletic Corps; and teams from Korea University and Yonsei University.
Caster Jung YongGeom stated, “‘Super Rugby: Win or Die’ will deliver fun and emotion through a journey more dramatic than any drama.” PD Jang SiWon added, “Rugby is a sport where you must advance to win, and I want to reveal the inner depths of rugby through this variety show.”
This program is part of Netflix’s new survival variety show offerings, which have gained global popularity with shows like ‘Physical: 100’ and ‘Black and White Chef: Culinary Class Warfare’. It promises to authentically showcase the passion and sincerity of Korean rugby players, telling the stories of those who refuse to give up in a rugby wasteland.
