Ahead of the first broadcast of the JTBC drama ‘Okssi-booinjeon,’ actress Lim JiYeon has revealed her reasons for taking on the historical genre. On November 11, the JTBC DRAMA YouTube channel uploaded a video titled ‘Lim JiYeon, Born a Slave, Called a Lady! <Okssi-booinjeon> Script Reading Scene.’
The video revealed the script reading and interview scenes of the cast of ‘Okssi-booinjeon.’ Lim JiYeon, who plays the roles of Gudeok-i and Ok Tae-young, said, “I had vague fears about the historical genre, but I was drawn to the charm of the character Gudeok-i, which made me want to take on the challenge.”
Choo YoungWoo, who plays Cheon SeungHwi and Seong YoonGyeom in the same work, said, “I wanted to participate because I thought I could learn a lot through various roles.” Kim JaeWon, who plays the role of Seong DoGyeom, explained his reason for choosing the work, saying, “The script was interesting with a tightly woven narrative and relationships between characters.” Yeon Woo, who plays Cha MiRyeong, said, “The character was so charming and fun that I decided to participate.”
Lim JiYeon added, “I’m contemplating how to express the growth process of Gudeok-i and Ok Tae-young to show their different sides.” Choo YoungWoo mentioned, “Due to the nature of the job of a Jeon-gi-su, I have to read and also prepare for dancing and singing, so I’m preparing my voice.” Yeon Woo revealed, “I’m practicing hard to get used to the historical speech,” and Kim JaeWon said, “I’m meticulously analyzing the script to deeply understand Seong DoGyeom and setting the basic tone for a historical drama.”
The JTBC drama ‘Okssi-booinjeon’ depicts the fierce survival scam of Ok Tae-young, an outsider whose name, status, and husband were all fake, and Cheon SeungHwi, an artist who risked his life to protect her. The first broadcast will be on November 30 at 10:30 PM. Expectations are high to see what kind of impact ‘Okssi-booinjeon’ will have in the future.
