CJ ENM, one of Korea’s leading entertainment company, has recently announced the exceptional performance of its TVING original series “Island” and “Bargain” at the “2023 Cannes International Series Festival” (also known as “Canneseries”).
The action-packed thriller “Island” made a successful screening at this year’s “Canneseries” and received a warm and enthusiastic reception from the audience. Actress Heo JungHee, who portrayed the character of Boo YeomJi in the series, represented the show and graced the Pink Carpet at the festival earlier.
“Island” is a Korean drama produced by Studio Dragon, a production house under CJ ENM. The show depicts a group of individuals fated to combat an evil force that threatens to obliterate the world. It is currently available for streaming on Prime Video and TVING, and has been selected to be screened in the Rendez-vous section of the “Canneseries”, one of the most highly regarded events in the television industry that features top-quality drama series from across the globe.
I am happy that many people welcomed me and still can’t believe it. I think it’s because everyone, including the actors and staff, worked hard to create this work. Part 2 of the series, which has not yet been released in France, will be released through Prime Video later this month. YeomJi is expected to show more activity in part 2, so please show a lot of interest in part 2 as well. I will continue to work hard to show good works and develop to be able to visit “Cannes” again.

We’re thrilled to have showcase this in “Canneseries”. We believe that the quality of our storytelling and production is what sets “Island” apart and are excited to showcase it on such a prestigious platform. CJ ENM always explores universal themes, such as identity and belonging. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with a wider audience and share our passion project with the world.

According to Flixpatrol, “Island” has received positive reviews and has ranked among the top 10 shows on Prime Video in over 60 countries worldwide. The show is currently available for streaming on TVING in Korea, and on Prime Video in regions other than Korea.
On the other hand, the series “Bargain” was awarded the Best Screenplay award. This accolade makes “Bargain” the first Korean OTT original series to both participate and triumph at “Canneseries”, further highlighting the competitiveness of Korean content and creators on a global scale.
We are thrilled that TVING original series “Bargain” has won at the “Canneseries” competition, the first Korean drama to achieve this honor, and carry on the K-content syndrome. We will continue to do our best to discover content that will bring fun and excitement to people around the world and promote TVINGโs content competitiveness.

“Bargain,” launched by CJ ENM, is slated for international release this summer in regions where Paramount+ is accessible. Paramount Global Content Distribution has licensed the series outside of Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
