BTS member Jimin has once again demonstrated his ongoing goodwill by donating 100 million won for military personnel. On November 22, the Chungnam Social Welfare Community Chest announced that Jimin had contributed 100 million won to the “Patriotic Devotion Comradeship Fund,” which is conducted jointly with the Army. As a result, Jimin has been registered as an Honor Society member of the Chungnam Social Welfare Community Chest. The donation will be used to support living expenses, medical expenses, and scholarships for Army soldiers and their families who have dedicated themselves to the nation.
This donation was made through Jimin’s father and aligns with Jimin’s current situation while serving in the military. He enlisted in the 5th Infantry Division on December 12 last year and is set to be discharged in June next year. With this donation, Jimin’s known total contributions during his military service now exceed 200 million won. Previously, he donated 100 million won to the Gyeongnam Future Education Foundation in April to support university life and social advancement funds for students from low-income families.
Jimin is a representative “donation angel” in the music industry, consistently demonstrating goodwill for 11 years since his debut. He has especially contributed tirelessly to child welfare for vulnerable groups and improving educational environments, with his officially recognized personal donations totaling 1 billion won. When combined with donations made with BTS members, the amount is considerably larger.
His donation journey began in 2018 with a donation for summer and winter uniforms for his alma mater, Hoedong Elementary School in Busan, and has continued to support various educational institutions in the Busan area. In 2020, he also donated to the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation and Rotary International, showcasing his role as a global philanthropist. His donations have continued into 2022, reaching the Gangwon-do Office of Education, the Korean Committee for UNICEF, and the Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education.
Jimin’s acts of kindness have deeply moved many fans and the public, and there is great anticipation for how his warm generosity will continue in the future.
