The drama production company Monster Union has partnered with the production company led by actor Ma DongSeok, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint development of new content. Besides Monster Union, the agreement announced on November 7 includes participation from Big Punch Pictures, Nova Film, and Contents Z, which are all drama and film content production companies.
Founded in 2016 as a joint venture by KBS and its affiliates, Monster Union has produced a variety of hit works, including “The King’s Affection,” “Cafe Minamdang,” “Goryeo-Khitan War,” and “Nothing Uncovered.” Recently, the company has been actively pursuing collaborations with external partners to strengthen its competitiveness in the diverse video content market.
Monster Union expects this MOU to maximize planning and production capabilities by promoting joint planning and production of dramas and films, thereby creating new business opportunities.
In particular, the production companies have already agreed to co-produce the drama “Twelve” starring Ma DongSeok and have plans to conceptualize various collaboration models in the future.
Moon JunHa, CEO of Monster Union, stated, “Through this agreement, we will further strengthen Monster Union’s competitiveness in the existing drama market, and through collaboration with Ma DongSeok, who possesses exceptional capabilities as one of the most influential actors and planners, we will create synergy in the diverse content market, including dramas and films.”
Amidst growing anticipation for what innovative works may emerge from this collaboration, it is being observed whether this will serve as a stepping stone to open a new chapter in the Korean drama and film industry.
