Before we get into it, we have to show our appreciation for HORI7ON first. Seven brilliant, shining, talented young men who reached for the same dream came together as one through the reality show “Dream Maker” and created HORI7ON. After rigorous training and relentless effort poured into their art, HORI7ON debuted on July 24, 2023 as a global pop group, presenting their music on the world’s stage. This incredible journey (and much more) is documented by their reality show “100 Days Miracle“, which is not just popular but also deeply beloved by fans.

HORI7ON’s debut studio album “Friend-Ship“, containing 21 tracks (including one instrumental), sung in English, Filipino, and Korean, achieved both commercial success as well as love and high praise from fans and critics alike, cementing their position as global rookies. Despite being a debut album, “Friend-Ship” effectively established HORI7ON’s claim to fame, highlighting their versatility and unique artistic colors, raising expectations for their future activities even more.

Today, VinciKimKylerReysterWinstonJeromy, and Marcus have not only stolen our hearts and taken over our playlists but have also endeared themselves to fans all over the world. So, to get to know them better on a human level and bring you, dear ANCHORs, closer to the idols you love the most, we invited HORI7ON for our special “Day In The Life” interview. If you’re not an ANCHOR yet, we guarantee you will be by the end of this interview.

We know HORI7ON has become quite popular among K-Pop fans for fashion, both on stage and off stage. Can you show us your OOTD?

Speaking of fashion, each HORI7ON member has a very unique style. Can you tell us about your daily style inspiration?

Since we train everyday, I always wear simple dance practice clothes or casual outfits. I usually find my inspiration through other K-Pop idol’s training outfits, and I try to take ideas from them.
Kyler

Would you say your style has evolved since coming to South Korea? How so?

I think my casual style didn’t change much in Korea, but I did get to go shopping and I bought many clothes at Hongdae. So maybe I didn’t evolve my casual style, but instead, I upgraded it.
Kyler

This reminds me, what has been your favorite part about moving to South Korea, and what has been the hardest?

One of the many things I love about Korea is their food. The food here is so delicious and I got to explore on different kinds of Korean food like traditional food, fast food, or maybe even snacks. It was my first time to eat anything like that so I loved it so much. I also love the weather so much especially when we just arrived in Korea, because that was the time where it was still a little cold and it was also my first time to experience cold weather. I’m sure me and the other members share the same hardships, and that is being apart from our families. But with technology and internet, we get to call them every day. Also, we HORI7ON are really like family now. The members are like my brothers, so I still feel at home even if we’re here in Korea.
Kyler

ANCHORs lean on HORI7ON just as much as HORI7ON relies on ANCHORs. However, in your day-to-day life, what would you say has been the biggest help when it comes to adjusting to a new place?

Adjusting to a new place can be quite hard. But the biggest help comes from building a support system – of friends or acquaintances, exploring the local culture, and maintaining a positive attitude. These factors help me adjust easily to a new place.
Jeromy

If you could ask ANCHORs in Korea any question about living in Korea, what would it be?

I would ask, “What are some lesser-known cultural customs or traditions in Korea that outsiders might not be aware of, but are important to understand when living there?”
Jeromy

Have you received any advice or guidance about this from the senior artists in your company or your CEO?

I remember Lapillus’ Chanty Sunbaenim gave me advice about my confidence. She told me to act confident even though I don’t feel like it sometimes. This way, I’ll always be able to feel confident.

When it comes to seniors, I’m sure you know that fans are gushing over the endearing relationship you have with Lapillus’ Chanty. She appeared on multiple episodes of HORI7ON’s “100 Days Miracle” as a special MC and expressed how proud and fond she is of you. Can you tell us about any interactions you have had with Chanty that you cherish?

I think we HORI7ON, are very grateful for Chanty Sunbaenim. It really feels so cool and more uplifting to have a Sunbaenim who is Pinoy as well! And Chanty Sunbaenim has really helped us throughout our journey here and was basically acting like our supportive ate/noona! One of the most memorable and definitely important interactions for me was when she encouraged and motivated us to learn the Korean language. Hearing it from a fellow Pinoy was so motivating and until now we use that motivating to learn Korean hard! Thank you Chanty Sunbaenim!
Marcus

For your debut album, “Friend-SHIP”, you collaborated with Lapillus’ HaEun and TFN’s Noa. What was it like working with your seniors so early in your career?

I’m so lucky and grateful to work with our Sunbaenims in general, and the fact that I’m just starting out as a rookie idol makes it so much more special. Before, I really used to idolize Lapillus Sunbaenim and TFN Sunbaenim, so it’s truly surreal, especially to me, to be able to work with them now. It was so much fun working with my Sunbaenims during the process of ‘How You Feel’ and ‘Light Way’. HaEun Sunbaenim of Lapillus is in the same age group as me and Jeromy, so we were shooting for ‘How You Feel’, we were all kind of just having fun together and playing around throughout the shoot. It was definitely so much fun! Working with Noa Sunbaenim of TFN was very special to me, because I got to learn so much from him and he gave me advice that I will apply in the future. I was very amazed by his skills and I really am so thankful that we were together for ‘Light Way’. To be honest, until now, I still can’t believe that I was given the opportunity to work with them, so I really cherish all the moments we had together.
Marcus

You know, it hasn’t been long since you debuted, but a little birdy told us that HORI7ON might be going on a Latin America tour soon! Are you excited? Which countries are you looking forward to performing in the most?

Oooohhhhh, actually, nothing for sure yet, but I’m definitely hoping for a Latin America tour soon! It’s truly a dream for me to visit places like Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, and all the many beautiful (places) there are in Latin America, so I’m looking forward to the time we get the opportunity to perform in amazing stages there.
Marcus

Needless to say, ANCHORs must be thrilled to hear this. Now, back to a day in your life! You posted previously about craving Filipino food in Korea. After being here for a while, what do you usually eat every day? Is there a member in charge of cooking?

I’ve really been into naengmyeon recently, bibim-naengmyeon to be exact. Looking back, I never thought I’d like cold noodles but there’s something so comforting about spicy cold noodles. It’s like eating something spicy which is lowkey scary but with the confidence that the coldness of it will neutralize the spice. Honestly, I’m just a huge fan of noodles.

Do you have any dorm rules that you made yourselves? How do you share responsibilities?

We only have one bathroom so we have a rule wherein everyone should take a bath under 15 minutes. I usually take 30 minutes (or more) but because of the time pressure from my members, I keep my showers shorter nowadays.

How would you describe yourselves when you’re in the studio? Are there any members who show a different side of themselves or an unexpected charm when you’re practicing?

I’m really quiet during training but sometimes I become super energetic. But when I know that we actually have to focus on our practice, all of the members become serious. I think it’s because we really want to make all of our stages perfect.

At the end of a long day, do you ever feel homesick? How do you cope with it? Are the members close to each other’s family?

I think yes, especially for me, who is still in adolescence, there are many many moments where I just want to hug my mom, play with my dad, or maybe talk to my sister, but my coping mechanism is; I usually think about all the sacrifices and hardships I went through to be able to stand in this spot, to be here right now. And it makes me remember that I have no regrets, and missing my family and hometown is part of the challenge. Although when we have busy schedules, I don’t usually find the time to be homesick, or miss the fam, but when I have many free time and I have nothing to do, that’s the time I miss them the most.
Marcus

What is your favorite place to hang out in Seoul?

Hongdae for sure. It’s so much fun for me because there’s a lot of people busking and I really enjoy watching other people perform up close.

With tour preparations ahead of you, you must be busy all day. Is there anything that you try to find time for in your day at all costs?

With our time being limited because of tour preparations, I always do my best to find time in communicating with my family especially my parents. Every (day) after our training, I catch up with them by telling them how good I am taken care of by my members and how I am doing my best to improve more in my craft to ease their worry.

What is your greatest hope for yourself at the moment?

At this moment, my greatest hope is to have a successful concert in the Philippines!
Kim

We’ve almost come to the end of our interview today but before we close things out, we have to follow tradition. If HORI7ON could make a time capsule for ANCHORs, what kind of object would you choose to put in the time capsule and why?

Our uniforms as Dream Chasers, because this symbolizes the embarking of our journey towards our dreams. Also our first album “FRIEND-SHIP” of course, which contains all of our hard work as trainees. And lastly, the most important of them all, an anchor. It’s probably too heavy to be in a time capsule but I’d like to think HORI7ON can pull it off because there is no HORI7ON without their ANCHOR.
Vinci

Finally, if you could write a letter to ANCHORs all over the world who are loving and supporting you, what would it say?
