Director Shin WooSeok has garnered attention with news that he has taken legal action against the executives of ADOR. On November 4th, Director Shin filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station against Kim JooYoung, CEO of ADOR, the CHRO of HYBE, and Vice President Lee DoKyung for violating the Information and Communications Network Act, specifically on charges of defamation.
Director Shin WooSeok is known for directing the music videos of popular NewJeans songs ‘Ditto’, ‘OMG’, and ‘ETA.’ The conflict with ADOR arose after the dismissal of CEO Min HeeJin and the replacement of the management in August. Director Shin concluded that collaboration with ADOR was impossible, claiming that ADOR deleted his work videos and also removed videos from the ‘Ban HeeSoo’ channel at their request.
In response, ADOR stated that they only requested the removal of the ‘ETA’ music video director’s cut because it was posted without consultation with advertisers and denied requesting the deletion of videos from the ‘Ban HeeSoo’ channel or other content. Amidst these developments, Director Shin has taken a strong stance by announcing on his personal social media that he plans to file defamation charges against the executives and submit or disclose recorded conversations and email evidence.
Meanwhile, the ‘Ban HeeSoo’ channel, known for its concept of anthropomorphizing NewJeans’ fandom Bunnies capturing NewJeans with a camcorder, has been well-received. It currently has 710,000 subscribers, and although the videos were temporarily removed at ADORโs request, they have since been restored.
Many are watching closely to see how this case will unfold and what resolution will be reached in the conflict between Director Shin WooSeok and ADOR. Interest in this case is expected to continue until new developments arise.
