Crayon Pop’s Way has come forward to highlight the issues within the system through her personal experience with jeonse fraud. She revealed on her YouTube channel that she is having difficulty getting her jeonse deposit back.
Way shared on a broadcast on the 10th that she feels she is a victim of jeonse fraud, and the current situation of not receiving her money proves it. She registered with the Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation and proceeded with a leasehold registration order but realized that joining a guarantee insurance doesn’t resolve everything.
She expressed disappointment, especially with the point that one can only apply after not receiving money for more than two months, while being unable to reach the landlord. This has led to difficulties in moving and the burden of interest, she lamented. Despite struggling with numerous documents, she expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of reward for her wait.
She explained that she had to visit the court in person due to unsuccessful phone calls to check the necessary documents, and that processing the deposit and financial transaction details is needed. Way also showed her frustration by saying, “Give me my money back.”
Additionally, she noted that jeonse fraud has been actively mentioned on YouTube recently, advising that tenants should clearly state their intention not to extend the lease after its termination. She emphasized that delivering this via text message is more effective.
Finally, Way pointed out the problems of the jeonse system, expressing dissatisfaction with the mention that the review process takes up to three months. Her story is raising awareness about the jeonse system among many and reminding the necessity for system improvements.
