BTS member Jin made headlines as a torchbearer for the ‘2024 Paris Summer Olympics’ held in Paris.
On the 14th (local time), Jin participated in the torch relay coinciding with Bastille Day. Through Big Hit Music, he expressed, “It’s an honor to be part of such a meaningful moment. I could stand here thanks to ARMY. I truly appreciate it.” He added, “I was nervous, but the support on-site helped me give my best.”
Jin wished for great success for the South Korean national athletes and said, “Please show a lot of interest in the 17th Paris Paralympic Games as well.” He also vowed, “I will continue to work harder and show good performances.”
Many fans gathered at the site to cheer for Jin, and his appearance drew loud cheers from various places along the Rue de Rivoli. Especially when Jin, clad in a pure white torch relay uniform, appeared, he showcased his unique visual appeal. The moment he received the torch from the preceding cyclist torchbearer, the cheers grew even louder.
Jin continued the torch relay from the Rue de Rivoli intersection to the Place du Carrousel and handed over the torch to former French national ski athlete Sandra Laura in front of the Pyramid at the Louvre Museum. After completing the approximately 10-minute torch relay, Jin waved to the crowd gathered at the scene, concluding his role as a torchbearer.
The ‘2024 Paris Summer Olympics’ torch relay began last April in Olympia, Greece, and will continue through 64 regions, including the heart of Paris and its beaches, until the 26th. Jin and the torchbearers are touring historically significant sites symbolizing the host country, spreading messages of ‘unity’ and ‘peace.’
