BTS’s JiMin has once again proven the group’s international stature by winning the ‘Best K-Pop’ category at Europe’s largest music award ceremony, the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards’ (MTV EMA). At the ceremony held on the 10th, local time, JiMin received this prestigious award for the second consecutive year as a BTS member, following JungKook’s win last year. MTV EMA established the ‘Best K-Pop’ category for the first time in 2021, with BTS winning as a group that year.
JiMin’s solo activities are also gaining attention. His second solo album ‘MUSE’ and its title track ‘Who’, released last July, continue to enjoy immense popularity on global charts even four months after their release. Notably, ‘MUSE’ and ‘Who’ have successfully charted for 15 consecutive weeks on the Billboard ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ charts and remained on the UK Official Chart for 16 consecutive weeks, showcasing their popularity. Additionally, ‘Who’ ranks fourth on Spotify’s latest ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ chart, maintaining its position in the ‘Top 5’.
JiMin’s achievements as a solo artist are remarkable. ‘Who’ debuted at number 4 on the UK Official Singles Chart, marking the highest position for a JiMin solo song. In its first week of release, it swept the top spot on various charts, including ‘Single Sales’, ‘Single Downloads’, and ‘Physical Single Sales’.
The members of BTS are demonstrating unique influence through their individual solo activities. JiMin will hold exhibitions encompassing his solo albums ‘FACE’ and ‘MUSE’ on November 29 in Los Angeles, USA, and on January 10 next year in Tokyo, Japan. Jin is set to release his first solo album ‘Happy’ on November 15, having participated in the overall production, heightening fans’ anticipation. Moreover, a documentary film capturing the making of RM’s second solo album will be released in over 90 countries worldwide on December 5, and V plans to release a duet song ‘White Christmas’ with Bing Crosby on December 6.
