The anticipation is palpable among K-pop fans both in Korea and internationally, as it has been announced that ‘Project7’ and ‘Starlight Boys’ will be performing at the inaugural ‘Korea Grand Music Awards’. According to the KGMA Organizing Committee, these two promising acts will grace the stage on November 16th for the ‘2024 Korea Grand Music Awards’ (2024 KGMA) Artist Day.
As these groups make their debut on this prestigious platform, excitement is building. ‘Project7’, a group that has taken the K-pop world by storm, has already achieved the number one spot in the K-pop category on Japan’s Abema, an OTT platform, following its simultaneous broadcast on Korea’s JTBC. This achievement within just a couple of episodes underscores its international appeal and influence as a formidable idol audition show.
Meanwhile, ‘Starlight Boys’, a collaborative effort between Studio Prism and the global platform iQIYI, is making waves as a global audition program uniting talents from Korea and China. With viewership surpassing 1.5 million, the group is set to deliver a dynamic and high-caliber performance at the 2024 KGMA.
In the lead-up to the event, rehearsals are strictly under wraps, adding to the intrigue of what promises to be a thrilling showdown between these new rivals. On November 16th and 17th, the Inspire Arena in Incheon will host this two-day event. The first day will focus on Artist Day, while the second will be Song Day, featuring performances from a total of 32 acts under the theme of ‘Birth of the Galaxy’, with an impressive lineup of 100 songs.
Notable hosts include Hani from NewJeans and actor Nam JiHyun on the 16th, and Winter from aespa alongside Nam JiHyun on the 17th. The event boasts performances from top-tier artists such as NewJeans, D.O., TVXQ, BIBI, STAYC, (G)I-DLE, Young Tak, Yoo HweSeung, Lee MuJin, Lee YoungJi, Jeong DongWon (JD1), ZEROBASEONE, QWER, Taemin, and P1Harmony, among others.
The second day will see stars like aespa, ATEEZ, NCT WISH, and JO1 lighting up the stage. With such a dazzling lineup and performances, the countdown to the first ‘Korea Grand Music Awards’ is officially underway. This annual celebration aims to honor artists and music that have achieved significant success across various genres in Korean popular music, including K-pop, trot, bands, and solo acts.
Organized by Ilgan Sports and the KGMA Committee, with production led by Han Dong-chul of Funky Studio, known for his work on ‘MAMA’, ‘Show Me The Money’, and ‘Produce 101’, the 2024 KGMA is set to be a landmark event in the Korean music scene.
