Actress Lim JiYeon returns to the public with the new historical drama “Okssi Lady’s Story.” This work marks her first historical drama since gaining significant attention from the Netflix series “The Glory,” with Lim JiYeon taking on the title role and leading the storyline. Scheduled to premiere on JTBC on the 30th, “Okssi Lady’s Story” is set in the Joseon Dynasty and tells the tale of Ok TaeYoung, an outsider whose life was full of falsehoods, and Cheon SeungHwi, who risked his life to protect him.
In the drama, Lim JiYeon plays Ok TaeYoung, a clever and athletic noble lady, who is actually a former slave named GuDeok who decides to live a different life to survive. Despite the risk of her true identity being revealed, she strives to help the needy and protect her family.
The released teaser for “Okssi Lady’s Story” showcases Lim JiYeon’s transformation from a despised slave to an elegant lady, hinting at her dramatic acting transformation. Director Jin Hyuk, in charge of the drama, expressed strong confidence in her casting, stating, “I couldn’t imagine anyone else for this role except Lim JiYeon.”
Lim JiYeon has left a strong impression on the public by playing various roles in films like “Obsessed” and “Luck-Key,” and dramas like “The Glory.” Particularly in “The Glory,” she was recognized for her villainous role, and with “Okssi Lady’s Story,” she promises another acting transformation. Through her agency, Lim JiYeon stated, “I always try to choose characters different from my previous works,” adding, “‘Okssi Lady’s Story’ is a fierce survival and love story of a woman who was once a slave, and it will certainly be a different work from before.”
“Okssi Lady’s Story” is garnering more attention as it marks Lim JiYeon’s return to historical dramas after eight years. Cultural critic Ha JaeGeun commented, “It’s exciting to see what Lim JiYeon, who gained attention through ‘The Glory,’ will showcase in a historical drama,” and assessed that “she could take another step forward with ‘Okssi Lady’s Story.'”
