SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ has finally raised its grand curtain. At a production presentation held on the 8th in Mokdong, Seoul, director Park BoRam and the main cast attended, heightening expectations for the drama. ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ tells the story of Father Kim HaeIl, who fights against the largest drug cartel in Korea, set against the backdrop of Busan. By day a priest, by night taking on the role of ‘Bellato’, Father Kim HaeIl is set to deliver his unique humor and intense action once again this season.
Director Park BoRam expressed confidence in the work, saying, “It’s a drama that will satisfy not only fans of Season 1 but also those watching for the first time.” He conveyed his intention to show a more developed story, following the successful direction of Lee MyungWoo. Lead actors including Kim NamGil, Lee HaNee, and Kim SungKyun reunite to expand the universe of The Fiery Priest. Kim NamGil, in particular, expressed his affection for the project, saying, “I rushed over as soon as I heard Season 2 was being produced.”
This season introduces new villains and allies, promising even greater excitement. Sung Joon transforms into the deputy boss of a drug organization, and Seo HyunWoo takes on the role of a prosecutor with sharp charisma, injecting tension into the story. In addition, Kim HyungSeo will play a detective from the Busan Police Department, adding humor with a Busan dialect. With the addition of such diverse characters, ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ offers an even richer viewing experience.
The expansion of scale with Busan as the backdrop is also noteworthy. Director Park BoRam explained the choice of Busan by saying, “It’s a suitable place to deal with drug cases.” Kim NamGil also mentioned, “We wanted to delve deeply into social issues set in Busan,” touching on the drama’s message.
This season is set to amplify the comedy, delivering laughs and messages simultaneously. Director Park BoRam raised expectations by stating, “We have appropriately mixed comedy and social criticism so that viewers can discover messages amidst laughter.” The first broadcast was on the 8th at 10 PM (KST).
