The legendary figure in South Korea’s rock scene, Kwon InHa, is once again in the spotlight with the release of a new single, ‘Pyeona’, in collaboration with the band ‘Kwon InHa and Sons’. Released on November 5th through various music platforms, this track continues Kwon InHa’s prolific musical journey as he opens a new era of rock with members who are like sons to him.
Kwon InHa and Sons gained recognition from the public through the band survival program ‘Fire Band’. Kwon InHa, who debuted in 1986 as a member of the band ‘Woori’, expanded the horizons of Korean progressive rock with tracks like ‘The World Is All’ and ‘Cold Rain’. From the 1990s to the 2010s, he has traversed various genres, maintaining an active presence. This time, he introduces a powerful yet warm sound with next-generation No.1 guitarist Park HaeChan, legendary rhythm duo bassist Han JiSeok and drummer Lee SungHoon, and the television industry’s notable keyboardist Kim JungYong.
‘Pyeona’ is Kwon InHa’s proposed new alternative for South Korean rock. It encapsulates the fighting spirit of a veteran with lyrics like “We can’t go on like this”, offering a hopeful message to keep moving towards a new tomorrow. The track features polished sounds reminiscent of Linkin Park during the Chester Bennington era, thanks to the participation of the Berklee College of Music-educated producing duo, Raccoons! (Sim On, Woo JongHyun).
Over the past five years, Kwon InHa and Sons have honed their teamwork through various programs like ‘Fire Band’ and ‘Immortal Songs’, proving their prowess through audience interaction in Kwon InHa’s ‘Roar’ concert series and performances on ‘Immortal Songs’. Notably, their performance of ‘If I Love Again’ garnered over 3 million views, creating a significant buzz on YouTube and Instagram.
The future musical journey of Kwon InHa and Sons is highly anticipated. Let’s keep an eye on how they will expand the new horizons of Korean rock.
