NewJeans has the honor of being the first K-pop girl group to take the main stage at Japan’s large-scale year-end indoor festival, ‘Countdown Japan 24/25’. According to their agency, ADOR, NewJeans will perform on the largest stage on December 31 during the festival, which runs from December 28 to 31 at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo.
‘Countdown Japan’ is Japan’s largest year-end indoor festival, which began in 2003 and has seen participation from countless audiences and top-tier artists every year. This year’s lineup includes popular artists such as Creepy Nuts, Vaundy, MAN WITH A MISSION, and SixTONES, drawing much attention.
Since their official debut in Japan, NewJeans has been making a remarkable impact. Their debut single ‘Supernatural’, released in June, achieved million-seller status and topped major local music charts. Both ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Right Now’ dominated the domestic music charts despite being Japanese singles, proving the powerful influence of NewJeans.
Additionally, NewJeans achieved the feat of entering Tokyo Dome in just one year and 11 months, the shortest period for a foreign artist. Their fan meeting, ‘Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome’, held from June 26 to 27, attracted a total of 91,200 spectators and was a sold-out success. The concert received an enthusiastic response from local fans, further accelerating the NewJeans phenomenon.
The performance at this year’s ‘Countdown Japan’ is expected to further strengthen NewJeans’ global impact, heightening the interest of fans. Meanwhile, NewJeans is scheduled to appear on Nihon TV’s ‘with MUSIC’ on the 9th. Much attention will continue to focus on NewJeans’ future endeavors.
