BLACKPINK Rosé is showcasing the allure of K-pop to the world with ‘Apartment’, a collaborative single with global pop star Bruno Mars. In an interview with a famous American magazine, Rosé described Korean culture as “one of the most fascinating cultures” and expressed her joy in sharing it with fans worldwide.
Released on the 18th of last month, ‘Apartment’ is a song inspired by the Korean drinking game ‘Apartment Game’. Its catchy chorus has captivated fans’ hearts, gaining significant popularity on SNS platforms like TikTok, where videos introducing the ‘Apartment Game’ to international fans have been highlighted. The unique chemistry between Rosé and Bruno Mars played a vital role in the song’s success.
In this collaboration, Bruno Mars chose ‘Apartment’ from several duet song options proposed by Rosé. Recalling the moment when she explained the idea of ‘Apartment’ to Bruno Mars, Rosé said, “Everyone around me thought he wouldn’t sing that song, but I believed it had to be this one,” and remembered his reaction as “cool.”
Meanwhile, Rosé’s first solo studio album, ‘Rosie’, set to be released in December, encapsulates the complex emotions and experiences of her twenties. The album will include a track that candidly addresses her encounters with online negativity. Rosé mentioned, “I realized how vulnerable and addicted I am to the (online) world,” and stated that she’s ready to honestly share her story.
During the album’s production process, Rosé shared her tracks with BLACKPINK member Lisa, receiving positive feedback and feeling great satisfaction from creating the album according to her vision. She added, “I hope people don’t misunderstand me,” expressing her readiness to present a more honest and open side of herself.
