Heize, who embodies the romance and nostalgia of autumn, has returned with a new work after about a year. Her ninth mini album, ‘FALLIN’,’ is released after a long wait since ‘Last Winter’ in December last year, and it contains stories of longing that blend with the autumn season.
In an interview held at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul, Heize expressed her thoughts on the album release. She said, “Every time I release an album, excitement and nervousness coexist,” and added, “I hoped the songs I had been pondering over for a long time in the studio would come out into the world.” She mentioned the ‘personal storms’ she faced while preparing this album, revealing that it was a time of deep contemplation to create better songs.
The title track ‘Falling’ is a song that expresses longing for things that have disappeared, likening it to innocent love. Heize shared that there were various opinions during the selection process for the title track, but ‘Falling’ was unanimously chosen. She felt that the message and atmosphere of the song were well suited as the title, complementing the songs she has worked on so far.
Although she did not participate in the writing and composing of the title track, Heize demonstrated her singer-songwriter side by participating in the writing and composing of five of the album’s tracks. Through the seven tracks with the keyword of nostalgia, she fully encapsulated the autumn ambiance. Heize said, “It wasn’t intentional from the beginning, but autumn and nostalgia naturally blended together.”
Furthermore, Heize filled all the songs in this album with her voice alone, without any featuring. She revealed, “To approach sincerely, I thought it was more fitting to sing alone this time.” Especially, ‘Because You Taught Me Everything’ is a song reflecting on her first love, infused with her past experiences.
Celebrating her 10th anniversary since debut, Heize expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the fans who have loved her music over the past decade. She promised to continue attempting diverse changes while capturing the emotions fans desire, saying, “The 10 years have made me grow even more.”
Heize’s new album ‘FALLIN” will be an opportunity to once again confirm her unique musicality and sensibility. We look forward to seeing what kind of musical journey she will continue.
