IU celebrated her birthday on May 16 by spending precious time with her fan club ‘UAENA’ and spreading positive influence in society through donations.
On May 15, starting at 11 p.m., IU hosted a voice live stream titled ‘IU’s 5.16MHz With UAENA’ on her official YouTube channel ‘Lee Ji Geum.’ The live session began with a talk about her recent activities and continued as she read and responded to questions sent by fans in advance and real-time chat comments. As the clock struck midnight, IU received birthday wishes from fans and communicated with them by singing mini ASMR and fan-requested songs like ‘Voice Mail’ and ‘Crayon’ in real-time.
In particular, during this live stream, the character and nickname ‘Luck77’ for the 7th generation of UAENA were announced, and gifts for fans were also notified, drawing attention. IU, having heard that fans held birthday cafés nationwide in cities such as Seoul, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan, Jeonju, Jeongeup, and Changwon, prepared a ‘reverse fan-gifting event’ in return. She provided around 3,500 drinks and exclusive photo cards to fans at birthday cafés across the country.
Additionally, on her birthday, IU donated a total of 200 million KRW in the name of ‘IUANA’ to ‘Direct Donation,’ ‘Korea Welfare Society,’ ‘Snail of Love,’ and ‘Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association.’ This donation will be used for cochlear implant surgeries, speech rehabilitation therapy, and external device support for children and adolescents with hearing impairments.
