Despite there being so many NCT subunits, each one have established their own careers apart from one another and continue to thrive within the music industry. They’ve cemented their place at the top and continue to push boundaries while they retain their core identity. NCT 127 presents a more experimental sound and always stand on stage with an aura of overflowing charisma.
Although they come out with songs full of swagger and hip-hop influences, one cannot forget that NCT 127 is also made up of incredible vocalists that can fill an entire stadium with their voice alone. One talented vocalist from the group is none other than DoYoung. After years of perfecting his craft and being standing on stage with his group, he was finally able to make his solo debut earlier this year, topping charts while also earning praise from fans and critics alike. His voice is heartwarmingly special and extremely addicting that you’ll want to hear it all day long.
Speaking of his spellbinding vocals, here’s just a few, mainly recent live performances from DoYoung that you’ll want to have on repeat all day long.
Heartwarming Cover Of ‘My Sea’
IU is an artist who everyone in the K-Pop industry dearly loves and respects. Idols, both male and female, have tried their hand at covering her songs and DoYoung’s cover of ‘My Sea’ just hits the spot. His rendition is emotional and heartfelt, and should probably come with a cautionary warning that listeners should prepare tissues – just in case.
Festival Performance Of ‘Lost In California’
Music show performances are exciting, however, festival performances are a different beast. There’s just something about hearing the audience reciting the lyrics along with the singer, swaying from side to side, and portraying an energy, unmatched and constantly growing stronger. Although it’s only DoYoung on stage, he gets the crowd on their feet, singing along to ‘Lost In California’. For those that have been following since debut, it’s a moment of glorious victory and seeing him own the stage is special type of serotonin NCTzen didn’t know that they needed.
Impressive Performance On “Lee MuJin Service”
“Lee MuJin Service” is a special program that allows idol vocalists to showcase their mesmerizing singing capabilities with both covers and original tracks. At the time of his appearance on the web program, DoYoung was promoting NCT DOJAEJUNG’s ‘Perfume’. His snippet of the unit’s debut track and the songs that followed were a treat to behold. The 30 minute video seemed to extend to multiple hours as fans had it on replay all day long. Although DoYoung is amazing in upbeat dance tracks, he truly shines in calming ballads as shown through “Lee MuJin Service” and his own personal discography.
Throwback To His Cover Of ‘Falling’
With participation in a new subunit and his solo debut, DoYoung has updated his song list, singing more recent songs across the board. However, it’s hard not to take a trip down memory lane when he’s put a multitude of stellar cover tracks onto NCT’s official YouTube channel. One of special note is his live performance of Harry Styles‘ ‘Falling’. There’s nothing flashy about the way he sings or in the video, however, DoYoung’s vocals manage to explode like fireworks at every note. He tugs onto listeners’ heartstrings from beginning to end, creating a cover that makes an impact even when your eyes are closed.
Blood Pumping ‘Little Light’ Live Clip
This year we’ve seen a resurgence of K-Bands in the K-Pop industry with their songs consecutively topping music charts. The band sentiment has been thriving for most of the year and DoYoung brought it to his solo debut track, ‘Little Light’. We see this on full display in this live clip, with some parts making listeners want to rock out. Then there’s the other side of the spectrum, where through the use of his warm, emotional vocals, fans cannot help but become choked up in tears. DoYoung maintains the perfect balance, offering a perfect execution and a live performance fans and non-fans will want on loop.
Together with NCT 127, DoYoung and his members celebrated the group’s 8th anniversary with a fan meeting. And while he took some time rest afterwards, he’s currently preparing for a solo comeback with single album “Frosty”, set to drop on November 6th at 6 PM KST. About a week remains, allowing fans enough time to create a playlist of DoYoung’s live performances and have them on repeat until then.
