It had been over a year since CIX had been in North Texas and over two years since they had been to Dallas. The rain from the last few days had turned into fog and humidity on an already hot May day. After a long wait and braving the elements, Dallas CIX fans were about to get their FIX.
CIX debuted on July 23rd, 2019 consisting of the former Wanna One member Bae JinYoung, YG Treasure Box contestant SeungHun, YG Treasure Box contestant and MIXNINE finalist BX, YongHee, and HyunSuk. Their debut song ‘Movie Star’ set them on the right path to having a long, successful career. They followed with ‘Numb’, ‘Jungle’, ‘Cinema’, ‘WAVE’, ‘458’, ‘Save me, Kill me’, and most recently, ‘Lovers or Enemies’.
When I say CIX left everything on that stage, I mean it. The heat in the venue was off the charts and they were moving and dancing like they were cutting right through it. I was almost concerned for them because of how involved they were in these conditions. They hit every mark. JinYoung blessed us with his ethereal moves and beauty. BX was practically the emcee of the evening, joking around with his group and also professing his love for the Texas staple Whataburger. SeungHun wowed the crowd with his amazing vocals. YongHee stunned everyone with his illustrious smile. HyunSuk showed his duality with passionate and brooding performances while being cute and happy during comments.
They started the night out with ‘Move My Body’, ‘Change Me’, and ‘BAD DREAM’, saving their title tracks for later in the night. They did eventually perform ‘Save me, Kill me’, ‘WAVE’, ‘Movie Star’, ‘Lovers or Enemies’, ‘458’, and ‘Cinema’. HyunSuk performed a cover of ‘ILYSB’ by Lany, BX did ‘Left to Right’ by Marteen, YongHee did ‘Angel Baby’ by Troye Sivan, Bae JinYoung performed ‘Seven’ by BTS’ JungKook with a little help from BX, and SeungHun did ‘Youngblood’ by 5 Seconds of Summer. I was mildly disappointed that they didn’t perform ‘Jungle’ or ‘TESSERACT’ (I really wasn’t expecting ‘TESSERACT’, but it would have been cool), but they made up for it and then some.
Despite being a fan since debut, this was my first time seeing CIX since I missed the first time they came out here, but I’m so glad I was able to experience it. The next time they come to town, I’ll be first in line. Next time it should be in a bigger venue because the fact that they aren’t selling out stadiums is mind-boggling to me.
