One of the hottest new offerings from Disney Plus Korea, the K-Drama “Blood Free” is on everyone’s radar.
“Blood Free” tells the story of a company of the same name dedicated to eliminating animal cruelty and protecting the environment through game-changing inventions such as cultured meat, cultured seafood, and even cultured grains and food crops. This company is led by Yun JaYu (played by Han HyoJoo), an ambitious and apparently stoic young woman with razor-sharp focus on achieving her goals. However, she holds a secret that must not be revealed.
Ju JiHoon plays Woo ChaeWoon, a soldier-turned-bodyguard hired to protect Yun JaYu after he very conveniently turns up at the right times in the right places. Just as mysterious and unreadable as JaYu, ChaeWoon is a man with a dark past, the wounds from which continue to haunt him. Secrets abound in the relationship that they form, teetering on the line between allies and enemies, trust and suspicion, light and dark.
Starring a stellar cast of top actors: Ju JiHoon, Han HyoJoo, Lee MuSaeng, Lee HeeJun, and more, “Blood Free” raises some crucial questions surrounding cultured meat and its ethical implications as well as the future of science and technology. It is a science fiction drama set in a future not too far from today, which is why the “fiction” aspect doesn’t appear all too far-fetched.
The K-Drama is very well-received by fans, and the actors’ outstanding performances are truly worth high praise. In light of the success of “Blood Free”, Kpopmap had the incredible opportunity to interview Hallyu superstar Ju JiHoon, and dive deep into his craft.
