XG Unveils Their Exciting 1st Mini Album “NEW DNA And Music Video For Title Track ‘PUPPET SHOW’

Last September 27, the hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group, XG, delighted fans by releasing their much-anticipated 1st mini album, “NEW DNA,” in both CD BOX and Digital formats. This album is a bold declaration of XG as a “New species,” breaking free from conventions and limitations. Featuring six fresh tracks, the album’s artwork symbolizes cell division and the evolution of XG’s “NEW DNA,” making it a defining piece that visually and musically represents their new identity.

The CD BOX comes in two versions: “X Ver.” and “G Ver.” The “X Ver.” boasts a mysterious purple box that reveals a mesmerizing hologram of XG’s unique NEW DNA when opened. With a sophisticated black and silver design, it introduces a fresh style distinct from previous releases. The “G Ver.” represents XG’s refreshing worldview with an opaque white box and NEW DNA showcased on clear metallic paper, featuring white and blue tones for a clean image.

Previous CD BOX releases from XG, which were exclusive to specific retailers, quickly was sold out. However, this release is available in general stores and offers various bonuses, including online tickets for XG’s first live audience showcase in November, special perks for purchasers, and exciting campaign events.

On the same day, XG also dropped the music video for their lead track, ‘PUPPET SHOW.’ This track, the final lead from “NEW DNA,” blends various musical elements, including punchy drum beats, Jersey club-inspired beats, synth sounds, and a soothing piano bridge. With rap and refined vocals, it delivers a captivating atmosphere and clever lyrics that liken ‘doing your own thing’ to a ‘PUPPET SHOW.’

The music video’s theme, “Parade,” combines puppetry’s mysterious and peculiar fantasy elements with a creative worldview, challenging the conventional concept of a music video.

“NEW DNA” includes viral tracks like ‘GRL GVNG,’ which topped the U.S. Billboard Chart “Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter,” ‘TGIF,’ and ‘NEW DANCE.’

XG has been making waves at major festivals in 2023, including “Head In The Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival,” “KCON JAPAN 2023,” “Head In The Clouds Los Angeles,” “KCON LA 2023,” “TGC 2023 A/W,” and “FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX 2023.” In October, they will perform at “SXSW Sydney” at “Billboard THE STAGE,” followed by “Hyperound KFest Abu Dhabi 2023” in November.
