VCHA, a groundbreaking global pop girl group under the wings of K-Pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, has just dropped their pre-debut single album, “SeVit (NEW LIGHT)” via JYP Entertainment/Republic Records. Comprising of six members, Camila, Lexi, Kendall, Savanna, KG, and Kaylee, VCHA, which takes its name from the Korean term for “Shine the Light,” marks the first-ever global girl group trained through the K-Pop system..
Their three-track single includes the lead single, ‘Y.O.Universe’, an upbeat pop tune that celebrates diversity and the uniqueness that stems from our differences. Notably, K-Pop hitmaker and JYP Entertainment founder, J.Y. Park, penned and composed this track to convey the group’s story and their fundamental belief that “We are all special because we are all different.”
“SeVit (NEW LIGHT)” doesn’t stop there; it also features ‘Go Getter’, an energetic punk-rock anthem brimming with youthful passion, and ‘Know Me Like That’, a bold response to prejudice and stereotypes. J.Y. Park also lent his talents to writing and composing these songs, which brilliantly showcase the vocal styles of all six members and capture the fervor and zeal of their teenage years.
VCHA’s formation came about through the “A2K” competition series, culminating in their grand reveal during the show’s two-part finale on September 20th and 21st. This series, a joint effort by JYP Entertainment, Republic Records, and Federal Films, saw contestants exhibit their dancing skills, singing prowess, star quality, and character through auditions, a Los Angeles boot camp, and training at JYP Entertainment in Seoul, Korea, leading to the selection of the final group.
