“Mnet Asian Music Awards”, a yearly awarding event anticipated by K-Pop fans, both old and new, underwent a rebranding. CJ ENM announced that the awarding event is now to be called “MAMA AWARDS”. This year’s ceremony is set to take place on November 29-30, at the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan. However, for fans who will not be able to watch the event offline, the festivities will be made available online through platforms such as YouTube.
CJ ENM revealed that the rebranding to “MAMA AWARDS” rebranding represents the awarding body’s ambition to expand its presence in Asia, making it inclusive for all global K-Pop fans. It also aims to position itself as the “World’s No.1 K-Pop Awards”, which is in line with the company’s vision and history of promotion Korean entertainment worldwide.
This year’s venue, Kyocera Dome Osaka, is a well-know venue for holding the K-Pop shows and concerts, and has a capacity of 40,000. “MAMA AWARDS” will be held at the said venue for 2 consecutive days, which is a first for the awarding event. Fans can expect breathtaking peformances and in-store stages that can only be seen by the K-Pop awarding body armed with experience for 23 years.
MAMA has continued to explore new possibilities beyond the boundaries of Asia, and in the process, I can say with confidence that it has served as an outpost that pushed many K-pop artists to the global stage. This yearโs show will continue to solidify our presence as the World’s NO. 1 K-pop awards that provide differentiated values and experiences of K-pop to the world.

The history of MAMA can be traced back up to 1999, with the event then known as “Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF)”. 10 years later, it was rebranded into “Mnet Asian Music Awards” in 2009. This marked the start of the awarding body’s venture to promote Korean entertainment globally. MAMA has been considered the of the pioneers in the K-Pop industry, known for their creative conceptualization, large scale production, and heartstopping performances yearly.
Recently, CJ ENM wrapped up “KCON 2022 LA”, the “World’s K-Culture Festival”, which took place from August 19 to 21. The festival set a milestone of having a 90,000 offline attendees, and 7.17 million online participants.
