Breakout K-Pop Artist AleXa Unleashes English Single “TATTOO”

Hailed as “breaking the mold of the typical K-pop star” (ELLE), female powerhouse AleXa is back with special single “Tattoo,” the mellow counterpart to her hard-hitting power anthems.

Just like how its lyrics speak to the juxtaposition of pain and longing, “Tattoo” includes a hard hitting bass infused with a romantic chord progression, leaving a soft yet powerful feeling that mirrors the sometimes contrasting emotions of heartbreak.

Having captivated fans all around the world with her movie quality music videos, AleXa is once again pushing the boundaries of storytelling, with hidden symbols that continue her multiverse artificial intelligence concept. In the music video, AleXa walks the unfamiliar streets of Los Angeles but bumps into a figure that oddly reminds her of her past, someone who spots a similar tattoo to hers. “Tattoo,” which explores a new vulnerability, marks the return of the human AleXa that originated with last year’s release of “Xtra,” but this time with the A.I. questioning the complicated human emotions that it obtained “just like a tattoo.”

“‘TATTOO’ expresses the confusion instead of AleXa as an A.I., where the human emotion of love has been engraved inside of AleXa like a tattoo,” says Kim Junhong, CEO of ZB Label, “Compared to previous singles, the song gives listeners an emotional stimulation with its delicate storyline and lyrics, adding even more to the AleXa A.I. universe. We decided to release the English version first to preserve the original meaning of ‘TATTOO,’ and leave the Korean version open for the future. ”

2021 was a breakout year for AleXa, who performed the National Anthem of the United States to nearly 50,000 fans at Los Angeles’ iconic Dodgers Stadium and went on to sell out three fan-meeting stops during her first U.S. visit in September. Going on to clinch a win at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards, one of the most celebrated award shows in Korea, the Oklahoma-born star also became the first K-pop artist to host a fan-meeting event in the metaverse, attracting thousands of fans for a party in a special arena built inside of first-person shooter game Scavengers.

AleXa exploded onto the scene with her multilingual debut, “Bomb,” in October of 2019, breaking into the Top 10 of Billboard’s “World Digital Song Sales Chart” within its first week of release. In 2020, AleXa inked a deal with ICM Partners, home to an all-star roster of award-winning artists including Nicki Minaj and Khalid, to set a global debut in motion. AleXa is also set to appear in her first acting role on the second season of Netflix’s chart-topping horror anthology series “Goedam,” and most recently unleashed “Xtra,” the prelude to the origin storyline in the AleXa Universe and is a colorful celebration of 2000s pop culture. This chapter, which has since racked up nearly 8 million views and set years before AleXa is first seen escaping evil masterminds ZB Corp in “Bomb,” showcases AleXa’s life as a teenager years before being turned into an A.I.

“Tattoo” is available now worldwide on Spotify, Apple Music, Melon, Genie, and more than 100 music platforms around the world.
