Gwangju Museum of Art (광주시립미술관)

Introduction

The Gwangju Museum is divided into 3 sections: the Main Hall, the Education Promotion Center, and the Biennale Hall. There are 18 galleries and 2 visitor lounges.
The Main Hall is comprised of 4 exhibition halls on the first floor and 5 exhibition halls on the second floor, covering an area of 2,800㎡. Exhibition halls on the first floor present specific-themed planned exhibitions for outstanding domestic and international artists and exhibition halls on the second floor are permanent exhibitions housing museums’ art pieces divided into different genres. The museum also has a small-scale exhibition hall, including a donation art hall by Ha Jungwoong, Heo Baekryeon Memorial Hall and O Jiho Memorial Hall.

The Biennale Hall consists of 5 exhibition halls throughout 3 floors with an area of 800㎡. The Education Promotion Center has 3 exhibition halls on the first floor with an area of 1,300㎡.
Other facilities include a bookstore, which sells books and magazines on art, and an art information center about domestic and overseas exhibitions, and a resting area selling drinks and food.

Yongjeon 84, Yongjeon 85, or Cheomdan 95.

Get off at the Culture & Arts Center rear gate (문화 예술관 후문).
Walk 220m towards Unamje Lake and turn right
onto Bangmulgwan-ro.
Walk straight (80m) until you see the Museum of Art.
