K-Pop idols have always been a staple in variety shows as beyond just their music, performance, or even acting talents, many have proven to be a true funny bone, whose witty responses, smart remarks, facial expressions, and jokes all border between hilarious and rib aching laughter. This extra trait makes them the wholesome entertainer.

Over the years, we have seen many of our favorite idols show their comedic nature by making appearances either with their groups, cast, or just alone. Some have even gone from guest to part-host or full-time cast as they displayed a charm so funny and hilarious, people could help but want to see them every week. Some examples of the male idols who have either been regular cast members or constant guests in different variety shows would be SUPER JUNIOR's HeeChul and ShinDong, SHINee's Key, SF9's InSeong, GOLDEN CHILD's Lee JangJun, WINNER's MiNo, etc. All with their own unique charms, these idols and more have been able to strike a chord with fans, not relying on their popularity alone but also their wits and charms.

While most of the variety show programs have a cast of well-established or experienced idols who are popular for being funny or their sense of humor, over the last couple of years, we have seen more inclusion of 4th gen or rookie idols making more appearances in variety show programs. This inclusion has no doubt garnered postive responses from both fans and viewers as many 4th generation idols possess the charms that make them prime material for an entertaining variety show program.

In this article, we will be sharing a list of 4th generation male idols( some of whom are already becoming a constant face on variety shows and others who are untapped gems), who duly possesses the charms that makes them possible future stars of variety shows.

1. MIRAE's Son DongPyo

It is quite criminal how we are being starved of seeing Son DongPyo on more variety shows as being funny is his natural disposition. Sometimes, we often wonder what goes through his mind as the majority of the things he says and does are quirky, extremely out of the box, and hilarious. He is such a vivacious character, one that it is so hard not to smile at, with every motion he makes.

We could rightly assume that his mind is like a jungle filled with colorful birds who are so sassy and extra, who are just typing away and feeding him with the funniest lines and actions that he should do. When it comes to being funny, Son DongPyo could be considered an icon or a beacon that leads you to a state of pure delight and happiness. Right from his "PRODUCE x 101" days, Son DongPyo has shown that he doesn't just entertain on stage but off it as well.

His contents are always a thrill to watch as you'd find yourself rolling in laughter from his silliness and witty responses to various situations. With his every reaction being a meme-worthy moment, Son DongPyo is one that just by his simplest reactions would make a variety show go viral in an instant. P.S. "Nemo's Dream2" is perhaps the funniest variety series on YouTube.

2. TREASURE's JiHoon and Choi HyunSuk

Either as an individual or duo, we need to see the TREASURE are prime variety show casting material as they are both the epitome of funny: the unscripted and natural kind. They simply match and balance each other's chaotic energies. A JiHoon and Choi HyunSuk interaction is always a comedy show, from their variety series to their lives and concerts, this duo presents a level of hilarity with their actions that are so good, it deserves to be seen on more programs.

While they already have a series together, (which in our opinion was beyond entertaining and showcased their comedic brilliance), amidst their other TREASURE variety contents, we (just like other fans as well) would love to see them as a duo in more series or programs together. They have that undeniable chemistry that is so dramatic, and over the top, but so cute, endearing, and funny. Traits that make for a good cast in a variety program.

3. CRAVITY's WonJin

A simple fact about WonJin is that he is naturally funny. He could be recounting a random memory or experience and you'd just be smiling from ear to ear because of how he delivers his words. He is often times unfiltered and his words are blunt but always in the best way. He is smart, quick-witted, and always timely with his responses. Qualities that would come in very handy in an unscripted variety series. It's quite a surprise that he wasn't in the "Game Caterers x Starship Entertainment" special as that environment would be the prime setting for his chaos to reign.

He readily feeds off the energies of people around him and so he is able to ease in and adapt to many situations. Either when he is pranking his other members or teasing LUVITY, his antics always lead to a sense of laughter with both parties regularly complimenting him on how hilarious he is. While as a stand-alone he hasn't been on many variety shows, it's time he starts going on more as he might just be the precious gem that many producers are missing in their contents.

4. BAE173's HanGyul

Right since his "PRODUCE X 101" days, HanGyul has been a camera favorite as he possesses the charms that make him just right for TV. He is the kind of idol who could star in any kind of content and people would gladly watch. We are not just referencing his handsome good looks or his charisma alone but his impressive talents as well that makes him such a likable character.

Much like every aspect of his charms, when it comes to being funny, HanGyul is simply magnetic as his reactions and actions always seizes the attention and make people laugh. He has a very witty sense of humor and an uncanny ability to make everything light and cheery, even to the point where he makes fun of himself. His silliness is one we desperately need to see on more variety shows and if that happens, with a host of fans, we would all be tuning in to watch him shine.

5. P1Harmony's KeeHo

KeeHo's steady rise in popularity amongst K-Pop fans is one that is very unmistakable as day in and out, he is one of the 4th generation idols who is regularly talked about by fans online. Either because of his wise and realistic approach to different situations or his dry and witty sense of humor, KeeHo is one who continues to feed people with good vibes and positive energy. Perhaps, this is also why fans gravitate so easily to him and readily watch his contents, from lives to vlogs, and variety shows. KeeHo might not be the most hilarious prankster in the room but his smart and witty responses make him a true funny bone.

He is that best friend that even without a word, just a look or a reaction would send you spiraling around on the floor laughing. This is why he is a prime example of an idol who should be in more variety shows. Bringing his sassy energy and dry sense of humor to more programs would not just be a win-win situation for both parties but also for fans too, who would expressively tune in to watch KeeHo as true to his form, he will deliver a top-notch performance with great entertainment value.

6. Stray Kids' Lee Know

A Tsundere who is also a savage, be it with his other members or on variety shows, Lee Know's expressions and actions are so comical and entertaining. Ordinarily, at first glance, he might come off as the shy type but once he gets comfortable, he is always at the helm of everybody's joke. Lee Know is very intelligent and sharp, so sharp that it almost feels like he has an antenna on his head that makes him receive and react to every single detail of information quickly.

From the various contents we have seen, nothing seems to pass him by and his ability to grasp things and situations fast is simply uncanny. He is a jokester as well. Many might see as the ace performer on stage, but off it, he is also an ace prankster whose silly antics always elicit a response of laughter from both his members and fans. While he has been in a handful of variety shows as an individual, we have seen him become even more vocal and his actions more silly and funny. With lots of footage both from Stray Kids' content and other variety show appearances as a point of reference, Lee Know is definitely one of the 4th gen male idols who should be appearing more on variety shows.
