HYBE Entertainment is practicing sustainability through their new music appreciation method, the ‘Weverse Album’. Starting with the debut album of the rookie girl group I’LL-IT, they are taking the lead in environmental protection by using recyclable and biodegradable materials. The Weverse Album is a digital form of an album that allows fans to enjoy music and photo content without a physical CD, through a QR code. This method provides fans with a wider choice of albums and reflects the trend of digital music appreciation.
HYBE announced that they have replaced all packaging and components of the new Weverse Album with sustainable materials, thereby increasing the recycling rate. The album packaging film is made from biodegradable material extracted from corn starch, and the paper album case and photo cards have been changed to a water-soluble aqueous coating material. Additionally, the original plastic QR cards have also been replaced with paper. All paper and ink used in this manufacturing process are environmentally friendly, made from FSC-certified paper and soybean oil ink.
These changes show HYBE’s efforts towards a sustainable future. Starting with the I’LL-IT album, the use of sustainable materials is expected to be expanded to new releases from artists under HYBE Labels. Works by BTS members such as j-hope, RM, Jimin, Suga, SEVENTEEN, and TXT have already been released as Weverse Albums, providing fans with a new music appreciation experience.
HYBE’s innovative movements not only deliver music to fans but also contribute to environmental protection. It is anticipated how the use of sustainable materials for environmental protection and the new trend of digital music appreciation will evolve. Please look forward to more news about the future of the music industry led by HYBE and its artists.
